Remember that old commercial to grow your own chia plant?! Just add water and it grows! Well turns out, chia seeds are one of the best super foods to consume. Try adding a tablespoon to your oats while you're cooking them on the stove. Chia seeds become 22 times their size when they have time to soak in liquid. I make my morning oatmeal with soy milk so its a little creamier. This incredible little seed has 10% of our daily need of Iron & Calcium, 5g Protein, & 8g Fiber! While containing No fat, sodium, or sugar. That really is a super food. If you're looking to lose weight or maintain your weight, Chia seeds will help keep you full. I'm hooked and can't have my oatmeal with out it.
Mary's morning oatmeal:
Organic whole oats cooked with soy milk. (or favorite plant milk or water)
While cooking on the stove add: 1 tablespoon chia seeds, 1/2 banana, 1 to 2 chopped dates. When its done, let cool for a few minutes. Then serve with walnuts and a few dried cranberries. So yummy! And with the banana and dates cooked in, there's no need for a sweeter.
